Advocacy and Employment
Advocacy
The advocacy service supports Deaf people to achieve independence. All our advocates are either Deaf and/or fluent in BSL, and able to adjust their communication to suit the client.
We provide Deaf people with:
- Support with translation of documents/information
- Access to mainstream services
- Help with understanding personal budgets/direct payments
- Information to help them make informed choices
RAD recognises that Deaf BMER (Black, Minority Ethnic/Refugee) clients experience greater barriers in accessing information and services. Our specialist advocates help clients to break down these barriers through the provision of tailored support.
Advocacy support can be provided on a funded basis in certain areas of London and the south east, and through direct payments or spot purchases.
