Can you imagine how it feels when you communicate in your first language and most people don’t understand you?
This is reality for people who are born Deaf and whose first language is British Sign Language (BSL).
Deaf Awareness Week starts today.
The Royal Association for Deaf people (RAD) will be embracing this year’s theme ‘A celebration of’ with a number of events and activities during the week.
To celebrate the start of Deaf Awareness Week, we want to encourage as many people as possible to learn to fingerspell their name.
It’s really easy!
We have created a video to help you learn how to fingerspell your name:
So, why not give it a go.
Record a video of you signing your name and share it on your favourite social media channel. If you tag us, we’ll share it.
How about using your video as your facebook profile for Deaf-Awareness Week to encourage all of your friends and family to try signing their name too?
