Deaf Carers Project
Are you D/deaf and over 18?
Do you give a lot of help to another person?
If so, you could be a carer.
You could be a carer if you give help and support to another person who finds it difficult to do things for themselves. This may be because they are ill, elderly, disabled, mentally ill or can not see or hear well. This person may be in your family - a parent, child, husband/wife or partner, or maybe they could be your friend. You may or may not live with this person.
Being a carer can be a very positive experience, but sometimes it can be difficult. The RAD Deaf Carers Tool-kit can provide you with all the information you need to support you as a carer. For further information on the Deaf Carers Toolkit, click here.
If you live in Essex you can get face to face support.
Essex Deaf Carers Project provides the following FREE of charge:
• Information about being a carer and your rights in your chosen communication method
• A regular or one off break from your caring role through our FREE respite service • Access to other services who may be able to support you
• Help with getting a Carers Assessment
• Someone to talk too
• Support groups where you can meet other D/deaf carers
